Colombia is a South American country bordered by Venezuela to the east, Brazil to the southeast, Peru to the south, Ecuador and Panama to the west, and the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean to the north and west, respectively. Its capital and largest city is Bogotá, while MedellĂn, Cali, and Barranquilla are other major urban centers. Colombia has a diverse geography, including the Andes Mountains, Amazon rainforest, Caribbean and Pacific coastlines, and vast plains. It is a leading producer of coffee, emeralds, flowers, and petroleum. The country has a mixed economy with strong agriculture, industry, and services sectors. Colombia is a presidential republic and a member of the United Nations, the Organization of American States (OAS), the Pacific Alliance, the Andean Community (CAN), and MERCOSUR (associate member).
