Djibouti is a small country in the Horn of Africa, bordered by Eritrea to the north, Ethiopia to the west and south, Somalia to the southeast, and the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden to the east. Its capital and largest city is Djibouti City, which serves as a major port and trade hub due to its strategic location along one of the world’s busiest shipping routes. Djibouti has a hot, arid climate and limited natural resources, with its economy relying heavily on port services, logistics, and foreign military bases. The country hosts military bases from several global powers, including the U.S., China, and France. Djibouti is a member of the United Nations, the African Union (AU), the Arab League, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
