Ethiopia is a landlocked country in the Horn of Africa, bordered by Eritrea to the north, Djibouti and Somalia to the east, Kenya to the south, South Sudan to the west, and Sudan to the northwest. It is one of the oldest nations in the world, with a history dating back over 3,000 years and is known for being the home of the ancient Aksumite Empire. The country is famous for its diverse cultures, languages, and religions, with over 80 distinct ethnic groups and multiple languages, including Amharic, Oromo, and Tigrinya. Ethiopia is also the birthplace of coffee and is known for its landscapes, including the Simien Mountains and Danakil Depression. The country’s economy is primarily based on agriculture, with coffee, teff, and livestock as major exports. Ethiopia is a federal parliamentary republic and a member of the United Nations, the African Union (AU), and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).
