Greenland is an autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark, located in the northernmost part of North America, between the Arctic Ocean and the North Atlantic Ocean. It is the world’s largest island that is not a continent. Greenland is largely covered by an ice sheet and has a polar climate, with most of its population residing along the ice-free coast. The capital and largest city is Nuuk, located on the west coast. Greenland’s economy is based on fisheries, particularly shrimp and fish, as well as mining and tourism. While it is part of the Kingdom of Denmark, Greenland has self-governing authority over most of its domestic affairs, with Denmark handling defense, foreign policy, and monetary issues. Greenland is known for its breathtaking landscapes, including glaciers, fjords, and the Northern Lights.
