Honduras is a Central American country bordered by Guatemala to the west, El Salvador to the south, Nicaragua to the east, and the Caribbean Sea to the north. Its capital and largest city is Tegucigalpa, located in the central highlands of the country. Honduras is known for its diverse landscapes, including rainforests, mountains, and coastal plains, and is home to some of the world’s most biodiverse ecosystems. The country’s economy is based on agriculture, including the production of bananas, coffee, and palm oil, as well as manufacturing and remittances from Hondurans living abroad. Honduras has faced challenges related to poverty, crime, and political instability, but it remains an important player in the Central American Integration System (SICA) and other regional organizations.
