Monaco is a small sovereign city-state located on the French Riviera in Western Europe, bordered by France to the west, north, and east, and the Mediterranean Sea to the south. It is the second-smallest country in the world, after Vatican City, with an area of just 2.02 square kilometers. Its capital is Monaco, a famous luxury destination known for its casino, yachts, and Formula 1 Grand Prix. Monaco has a high-income economy, based on tourism, banking, luxury real estate, and insurance, making it one of the wealthiest places on Earth. The country has a constitutional monarchy, with the Prince of Monaco serving as the head of state. Monaco is not a member of the European Union (EU) but has agreements with the EU, and it uses the Euro (EUR) despite not being formally part of the Eurozone.
