Mongolia is a landlocked country located in Central Asia, bordered by Russia to the north and China to the south. It is the second-largest landlocked country in the world by area, and the 19th-largest country overall. The country is known for its vast, open steppes, deserts, and mountain ranges, including parts of the Gobi Desert in the south and the Altai Mountains in the west. The capital and largest city is Ulaanbaatar, which serves as the cultural, political, and economic center of the country. Mongolia has a nomadic heritage, and its traditional lifestyle is still practiced in many rural areas, with livestock farming being a key part of the economy. Mongolia’s economy is driven by mining (especially coal, copper, and gold), agriculture, and livestock. The country has a parliamentary republic government and is a member of the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and the World Trade Organization (WTO).
