North Macedonia is a landlocked country in Southeast Europe, bordered by Serbia, Kosovo, Bulgaria, Greece, and Albania. It is known for its mountainous terrain, rich cultural heritage, and historical sites, including Lake Ohrid, one of Europe’s oldest lakes and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The capital and largest city is Skopje, serving as the political, economic, and cultural center. The economy is based on industry, agriculture, trade, and services, with a focus on textiles, mining, and tourism. North Macedonia is a parliamentary republic and became a NATO member in 2020. It is also a candidate for European Union (EU) membership and a member of the United Nations (UN), OSCE, Council of Europe, CEFTA, and the World Trade Organization (WTO).
