The capital and largest city is Doha, serving as the political, economic, and cultural center. Qatar has a high-income economy, driven by energy exports, finance, and tourism, and has invested heavily in infrastructure and sports, hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup. It is a constitutional monarchy ruled by Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and a member of the United Nations (UN), Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Arab League, and the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
