Croatia is a country in Southeast Europe, located on the Adriatic Sea, bordering Slovenia, Hungary, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro. It is part of the Balkan Peninsula and Central Europe. Croatia declared independence from Yugoslavia on June 25, 1991, and was internationally recognized in 1992. Its capital is Zagreb, and it became a member of the European Union in 2013.
