Bolivia is a landlocked country in South America, bordered by Brazil to the north and east, Paraguay and Argentina to the south, and Chile and Peru to the west. Its constitutional capital is Sucre, while La Paz serves as the seat of government and administrative capital. Bolivia has a diverse geography, ranging from the Andes Mountains to the Amazon rainforest and high-altitude plateaus. The country has a multicultural society, with a significant Indigenous population and Spanish as its official language, alongside 36 recognized Indigenous languages. Bolivia’s economy is based on natural resources, including natural gas, lithium, and mining. It is a member of the United Nations, the Andean Community (CAN), MERCOSUR (associate member), and the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA).
