Bosnia and Herzegovina is a Southeastern European country located in the Balkan Peninsula, bordered by Croatia to the north and west, Serbia to the east, and Montenegro to the southeast. It has a small coastline along the Adriatic Sea. Its capital and largest city is Sarajevo, known for its historical and cultural diversity. The country has a complex political structure, consisting of two entities: the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republika Srpska, along with the Brčko District. Bosnia and Herzegovina has a diverse cultural heritage influenced by Ottoman, Austro-Hungarian, and Slavic traditions. It is a potential candidate for European Union (EU) membership and is a member of the United Nations, the Council of Europe, and the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA).
