Governed by the Communist Party of China (CPC), it is a one-party state. China is a permanent member of the UN Security Council, a leader in global trade, and a member of organizations such as the World Trade Organization (WTO), BRICS, the G20, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
