Its capital and largest city is Cairo, a major cultural and historical center. Egypt has a rich history, being home to one of the world’s oldest civilizations, known for its pharaohs, pyramids, and the Sphinx. The country’s economy is based on tourism, agriculture, natural gas, and oil, with the Suez Canal also serving as a significant economic asset. Egypt is a republic, and a member of the United Nations, the Arab League, the African Union (AU), the World Trade Organization (WTO), and the Non-Aligned Movement.
