Guinea-Bissau is a West African country bordered by Senegal to the north, Guinea to the southeast, and the Atlantic Ocean to the west. Its capital and largest city is Bissau, located on the Guinea-Bissau River. The country is known for its tropical climate, coastal mangroves, and islands, with Bijagos Archipelago being a UNESCO biosphere reserve. Guinea-Bissau’s economy is primarily based on agriculture, particularly the cultivation of cashews, cocoa, and groundnuts, as well as fisheries. Despite its natural resources, Guinea-Bissau has faced significant political instability and economic challenges since its independence from Portugal in 1973. It is a member of the United Nations, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), and the African Union (AU).
