Its capital and largest city is Pristina, which serves as the political, cultural, and economic center of the country. Kosovo declared independence from Serbia in 2008, though Serbia, along with several other countries, does not recognize its sovereignty. Kosovo is recognized by over 100 countries, including the United States and most EU member states. The country has a young population and is working to develop its economy, with key sectors including mining, agriculture, and services. Kosovo’s economy has grown since independence, but it still faces challenges related to unemployment and political stability. Kosovo is a member of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
