Macau is a special administrative region (SAR) of China, located on the southern coast of China, bordering Guangdong Province and facing the South China Sea. It consists of the Macau Peninsula, Taipa, and Coloane. The capital and largest city is Macau, known for its luxury casinos, tourism, and cultural heritage, blending Portuguese and Chinese influences. Macau operates under the “one country, two systems” framework, granting it a high degree of autonomy in legal, economic, and administrative affairs until 2049. The region has a high-income economy, primarily driven by gaming, tourism, and finance. While it is part of China, Macau maintains a separate legal system, currency (Macanese Pataca – MOP), and immigration policies. It is a member of APEC and participates in various international trade and financial organizations as part of China.
