Solomon Islands is a sovereign country in the southwestern Pacific Ocean, consisting of six major islands and over 900 smaller islands, located east of Papua New Guinea and northwest of Vanuatu. It is known for its tropical rainforests, coral reefs, and World War II history, as well as its rich cultural and linguistic diversity. The capital and largest city is Honiara, located on Guadalcanal Island, and serves as the political and economic hub. The economy is based on agriculture, fishing, forestry, and aid, with efforts to grow tourism and mining. Solomon Islands is a parliamentary democracy under a constitutional monarchy, recognizing King Charles III as head of state. It is a member of the United Nations (UN), Pacific Islands Forum (PIF), Commonwealth of Nations, Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG), and the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS).
