Tuvalu is a small island country in the Pacific Ocean, located midway between Hawaii and Australia, consisting of nine low-lying atolls and reef islands. It is one of the world’s smallest and least populous countries, known for its vulnerability to sea level rise, traditional Polynesian culture, and strong emphasis on community life. The capital is Funafuti, which also serves as the main population and administrative center. Tuvalu’s economy is limited and primarily based on subsistence agriculture, fishing, remittances, foreign aid, and revenues from its .tv internet domain. It is a parliamentary democracy under a constitutional monarchy, recognizing King Charles III as head of state. Tuvalu is a member of the United Nations (UN), Pacific Islands Forum (PIF), Commonwealth of Nations, and the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS).
