Uganda is a landlocked country in East Africa, bordered by South Sudan, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, with a portion of Lake Victoria along its southern border. It is known for its diverse wildlife, lush landscapes, and mountain ranges, including the Rwenzori Mountains and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home to endangered mountain gorillas. The capital and largest city is Kampala, which functions as the political, economic, and cultural center. Uganda has a developing, agriculture-based economy, with increasing activity in oil exploration, services, and infrastructure. It is a unitary presidential republic and a member of the United Nations (UN), African Union (AU), East African Community (EAC), Commonwealth of Nations, Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
