The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a federation of seven emirates located on the southeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula, bordered by Saudi Arabia and Oman, with a coastline along the Persian Gulf. It is known for its modern architecture, luxury tourism, and oil wealth, as well as its role as a regional financial and transport hub. The capital is Abu Dhabi, which is also the largest emirate and political center, while Dubai is the most populous city and a global hub for business, trade, and innovation. The UAE has a high-income economy, largely driven by oil and gas, but increasingly diversified into real estate, tourism, finance, and renewable energy. It is a federal absolute monarchy and a member of the United Nations (UN), Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Arab League, Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), OPEC, and the World Trade Organization (WTO).
