Yemen is a country located on the southern tip of the Arabian Peninsula, bordered by Saudi Arabia to the north, Oman to the east, and the Arabian Sea and Red Sea to the south and west. It is known for its ancient history, unique architecture, and mountainous terrain, but has been facing a severe humanitarian crisis due to ongoing conflict since 2015. The capital is Sana’a, although it is currently under the control of Houthi forces, while the internationally recognized government operates from Aden. Yemen’s economy has been devastated by war, with limited functioning sectors in agriculture, remittances, and humanitarian aid. It is a unitary republic with highly fragmented governance, and is a member of the United Nations (UN), Arab League, Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).
