It would be a lie to say Measured World is purely a work of love.
Of course, a large part in the process of creating it was supported with my love for data and the ways it can be presented. When I wanted to give up, my personal feelings on the matter pushed me to finish it.
Now that it's mostly done, but constantly changing, I discovered, or maybe even admitted to myself, there are other reasons for it.
First of all, the research tied to the metrics is fascinating. There is an endless well of information from all over the world, and I never get tired of it.
Apart from that, I wanted to carve out a single piece of my own space online where I could potentially talk with people, find and share common interest in data and the ways, not to sound presumptuous, it can affect the world.
Lastly, and I know it's a long shot, I want to create a career out of Measured World, and build so many more features ranging from newsletters, a glimpse section and many more metric categories.
I'm not a mathematician, or an economist. Just a journalist with some tangential experience in presenting facts and telling stories. Honestly, I got fed up with our industry and hoped a platform such as this could satisfy my need for storytelling, and in the long term, my existential needs.
In any case, I wanted to come clean at the very start. This is a passion project, but with fingers crossed behind my back that it might just pan out into something larger.
