Embeddings, mega menus and new data

Embedding has been added to Measured World, enabling users to paste our interactive charts on their own sites, keeping the interactive element alive. Additionally, menus were expanded and the site now has 26 new metrics in the Resources category.

I have been feeling enthusiastic as more and more people reach this site. For a website that's just over half a year old, I think we are doing great. That's why I don't want to stop implementing new features and expanding the available dataset.

When all of this was still a pipe dream, I knew any graphs would need to be exportable. I wanted users to view the data comfortably off-site.

In line with that, some time after launch I added an export feature to all the charts. At first it was just a CSV doc, but later I added a PDF and image export.

Still, it left me a bit unsatisfied, as those were all static solutions. Once downloaded, you couldn't really inspect the elements, and there were no tooltips to play with. This is now finally corrected. It's nothing revolutionary, but I think it adds some value to the site.

From now on, users who want to feature my visualizations on their own blogs can navigate to the Export button in the graphs, click the new Embed chart option and paste the code snippet on their own sites. This will generate an embedded chart with tooltips your readers can explore without coming to Measured World. Hope you guys use it.

In comparison, the other updates seem small. But they are just as important. First, I expanded the menus on desktop, so they now offer more choices and let users preview what is available. These so-called "mega menus" show specific metrics now, not just the broad category.

Finally, I added critical minerals, base and precious metals, as well as fertilizer minerals to the site. This means 26 new metrics to discover, compare and explore in the Resources category.

To the already existing Oil, Natural Gas and Coal, I added many more important metrics such as Lithium, Gold and Copper production, just to name a few.

We're not done yet, as I have lots of new stuff I want to add in the near future. I really appreciate the visitors, so please contact me and let me know if you want to see specific datasets or info, and I'll see what I can do.
