Qatar tops the global rankings for total primary energy consumption per capita, recording 814.3 million Btu/person in 2023, followed by Singapore (643.3 million Btu/person) and Bahrain (557.7 million Btu/person). United Arab Emirates (450.4 million Btu/person) and Brunei Darussalam (403.4 million Btu/person) complete the top 5. Kuwait (389.8 million Btu/person) and Saudi Arabia (346.8 million Btu/person) follow close behind. Canada (311.9 million Btu/person), Oman (296.6 million Btu/person), and United States of America (278.3 million Btu/person) round out the top ten. The spread is substantial: Qatar has 2.9× the figure recorded by United States of America (278.3 million Btu/person). Eight of the top ten are in Asia, with six from Western. Among these countries, Qatar saw the largest year-over-year change at +11.9%.
