China leads the world in total electricity net generation at 10,161.5 billion kWh in 2024, followed by United States of America (4,392.6 billion kWh) and India (2,051.8 billion kWh). Russian Federation (1,160.2 billion kWh) and Japan (907 billion kWh) close out the top 5. Next up, Brazil (737.1 billion kWh) and Canada (611.3 billion kWh). Republic of Korea (577.8 billion kWh), France (537.2 billion kWh), and Germany (490.2 billion kWh) round out the top ten. The gap across this list is wide — China has 21× the value of Germany (490.2 billion kWh). Four of the top ten are in Asia, with three from Eastern. Among these countries, France saw the largest year-over-year change at +7.7%.
