China leads the world in total electricity net generation at 10.2 trillion kWh in 2024, followed by the United States (4.4 trillion kWh) and India (2.1 trillion kWh). Russia (1.2 trillion kWh) and Japan (907.0 billion kWh) close out the top 5. Next up, Brazil (737.1 billion kWh) and Canada (611.3 billion kWh). South Korea (577.8 billion kWh), France (537.2 billion kWh), and Germany (490.2 billion kWh) round out the top ten. The gap across the top ten is wide: China has 21× the value of Germany (490.2 billion kWh). Four of the top ten are in Asia, with three from Eastern Asia. Among these countries, France saw the largest year-over-year change at +7.7%.
