The top 5 is rounded off by Russia (1.8 billion metric tonnes CO2) and Japan (960.2 million metric tonnes CO2). Further down, Indonesia (829.7 million metric tonnes CO2) and Iran (823.4 million metric tonnes CO2) hold the next two spots. Saudi Arabia (656.5 million metric tonnes CO2), South Korea (644.2 million metric tonnes CO2), and Germany (600.2 million metric tonnes CO2) round out the top ten. Across the top ten, China is 20× as high as Germany (600.2 million metric tonnes CO2). Seven of the top ten are in Asia, with three from Eastern Asia. Among these countries, Germany saw the largest year-over-year change at -11.6%.
