China tops the global rankings for hydroelectricity net generation, recording 1,424 billion kWh in 2024, followed by Brazil (417.9 billion kWh) and Canada (342 billion kWh). United States of America (242.9 billion kWh) and Russian Federation (212 billion kWh) complete the top 5. India (154.7 billion kWh) and Norway (139 billion kWh) follow close behind. Viet Nam (96 billion kWh), Venezuela (Bolivarian Republic of) (73 billion kWh), and Türkiye (71.7 billion kWh) round out the top ten. The spread is substantial: China has 20× the figure recorded by Türkiye (71.7 billion kWh). Four of the top ten are in Asia. Among these countries, Türkiye saw the largest year-over-year change at +15.8%.
