China leads the world in solar, tide, wave, and fuel cell electricity installed capacity at 886.7 million kW in 2024, followed by United States of America (176.7 million kW) and India (97.4 million kW). Japan (91.6 million kW) and Germany (89.9 million kW) close out the top 5. Next up, Brazil (53.1 million kW) and Spain (38.6 million kW). Australia (38.5 million kW), Italy (36 million kW), and Republic of Korea (26.9 million kW) round out the top ten. The gap across this list is wide — China has 33× the value of Republic of Korea (26.9 million kW). Four of the top ten are in Asia, with three from Eastern. Among these countries, China saw the largest year-over-year change at +45.4%.
