Wind electricity net generation (2024)

China tops the global rankings for wind electricity net generation, recording 997.0 billion kWh in 2024, followed by the United States (451.9 billion kWh) and Germany (134.3 billion kWh). Brazil (105.6 billion kWh) and India (90.7 billion kWh) complete the top 5. The United Kingdom (82.9 billion kWh) and Spain (61.0 billion kWh) follow close behind. Canada (46.4 billion kWh), France (46.2 billion kWh), and Sweden (40.8 billion kWh) round out the top ten. The spread across the top ten is substantial: China has 24× the figure recorded by Sweden (40.8 billion kWh). Five of the top ten are in Europe. Among these countries, Canada saw the largest year-over-year change at +25.2%.
