Lithium mine production (2025)

Australia leads the world in lithium mine production at 92,000 metric tons in 2025, followed by China (62,000 metric tons) and Chile (56,000 metric tons). Zimbabwe (28,000 metric tons) and Argentina (23,000 metric tons) close out the top 5. Next up, Brazil (12,000 metric tons) and Mali (9,400 metric tons). Canada (5,600 metric tons) and Portugal (380 metric tons) round out the top nine. The gap across the top nine is wide: Australia has 242× the value of Portugal (380 metric tons). Three of the top nine are in South America. Among these countries, Argentina saw the largest year-over-year change at +66.7%.
