Nickel mine production (2025)

Indonesia tops the global rankings for nickel mine production, recording 2.6M metric tons in 2025, followed by the Philippines (270,000 metric tons) and Russia (200,000 metric tons). Canada (140,000 metric tons) and New Caledonia (140,000 metric tons) complete the top 5. China (120,000 metric tons) and Brazil (70,000 metric tons) follow close behind. Australia (45,000 metric tons) and the United States (10,000 metric tons) round out the top nine. The spread across the top nine is substantial: Indonesia has 260× the figure recorded by the United States (10,000 metric tons). Three of the top nine are in Asia. Among these countries, Australia saw the largest year-over-year change at -54.1%.
