Phosphate rock reserves (2025)

Morocco leads the world in phosphate rock reserves at 50,000,000 thousand metric tons in 2025, followed by China (3,400,000 thousand metric tons) and Egypt (2,800,000 thousand metric tons). Tunisia (2,500,000 thousand metric tons) and Russian Federation (2,400,000 thousand metric tons) close out the top 5. Next up, Algeria (2,200,000 thousand metric tons) and Brazil (1,600,000 thousand metric tons). South Africa (1,500,000 thousand metric tons), Finland (1,000,000 thousand metric tons), and Saudi Arabia (1,000,000 thousand metric tons) round out the top ten. The gap across this list is wide: Morocco has 50× the value of Saudi Arabia (1,000,000 thousand metric tons). Five of the top ten are in Africa, with four from Northern.
