Phosphate rock reserves (2025)

Morocco leads the world in phosphate rock reserves at 50.0 billion metric tons in 2025, followed by China (3.4 billion metric tons) and Egypt (2.8 billion metric tons). Tunisia (2.5 billion metric tons) and Russia (2.4 billion metric tons) close out the top 5. Next up, Algeria (2.2 billion metric tons) and Brazil (1.6 billion metric tons). South Africa (1.5 billion metric tons), Finland (1.0 billion metric tons), and Saudi Arabia (1.0 billion metric tons) round out the top ten. The gap across the top ten is wide: Morocco has 50× the value of Saudi Arabia (1.0 billion metric tons). Five of the top ten are in Africa, with four from Northern Africa.
