Natural graphite mine production (2025)

China leads the world in natural graphite mine production at 1.4M metric tons in 2025, followed by Madagascar (80,000 metric tons) and Tanzania (75,000 metric tons). Brazil (65,000 metric tons) and Mozambique (60,000 metric tons) close out the top 5. Next up, Russia (25,000 metric tons) and India (17,000 metric tons). Canada (8,000 metric tons), North Korea (8,000 metric tons), and Norway (6,600 metric tons) round out the top ten. The gap across the top ten is wide: China has 212× the value of Norway (6,600 metric tons). Three of the top ten are in Asia. Among these countries, Tanzania saw the largest year-over-year change at +177.8%.
